The Olympic Games

Of course I have to write at least one post about the Olympic games during the Olympic Games, right :D

I love watching the Olympic games.  I prefer the Summer Olympics to the Winter Olympics, but still how can you not enjoy the winter events. 

I live in Utah and it wasn’t too long ago that the Winter Olympics came to Salt Lake City, Utah.  I was a mere hour away.  Some of the events took place minutes from where I was living at the time.  And did I go to any of them?

No, NO!!!!!

I have kicked myself about this too many times and I have gotten over the regret, sort of.  At least it was the Winter games and not the Summer games.  I think maybe I was in a protesting kind of mood.  You see I didn’t understand.  I thought that THE Olympics were coming to town.  THE Olympics meaning the summer games, track and field, swimming, volleyball, etc…  That was what I was expecting I don’t know why, it just didn’t occur to me that Salt Lake City is a prime spot for winter sports not summer sports.  I actually didn’t realize that they were different events.  I waited excitedly for 2002, and then sat confused when there was an Olympic Games in Summer of 2000, I was like what we have the Olympics in Utah in 2002 what is going on?  Somehow I figured it out.  Its all good now.  I wish I had gone and seen the Olympic torch and seen some of the events, heck, I should have at least tried to get tickets to the opening ceremony, hello!  I didn’t though and now I make plans to someday go and see some Olympics in the future.

But I plan to go and see the summer games.
